Robyn Lloyd Hughes: Invasion? Suffolk's Defences against the Nazi Threat in 1940 -
Following the Blitzkreig of Spring 1940 and the fall of France and the Low Countries, it seemed certain that Germany would attempt an invasion, wither on the South Coast or the East Coast of England. An elaborate system of defence was established, in which Sudbury was a Nodal Point on one of the key lines of fortification.
